The Director of Enterprise Applications Engineering is an AI first engineering leader who will fundamentally transform how Salesforce engineering is delivered across the enterprise. This role is accountable for building a globally distributed, high velocity Salesforce organization that aggressively leverages AI across the entire engineering lifecycle — code, configuration, testing, documentation, release management, and operations — to materially improve productivity, quality, and speed. This leader will assess current structures, capabilities, and practices, then rapidly modernize them by embedding AI driven workflows, agentic solutions, and automation into day today execution.
Serving as both a hands on practitioner and a transformational leader, this individual will personally model the use of AI technologies such as Salesforce Agentforce, Einstein, and modern AI coding and agentic platforms, while pushing teams to adopt and operationalize them at scale. Partnering closely with Architecture, Business Applications, Product, and Security, they will simplify and modernize the leadtocash ecosystem while establishing clear guardrails for responsible AI use. Through disciplined execution, clear accountability, and AI enabled engineering practices, this leader will elevate teams across the U.S., Bulgaria, and India — eliminating bottlenecks, building bench strength, and redefining Salesforce engineering as a modern, AI powered, high performing organization.
In this role, you will :
- Lead, coach, and elevate a globally distributed Salesforce engineering organization, building a high-velocity, high-discipline delivery team focused on quality, predictability, and speed.
- Champion an AIfirst engineering culture, setting clear expectations that AI is leveraged across the full delivery lifecycle — code generation, configuration, testing, documentation, release notes, and operational support — to materially improve team productivity and quality.
- Personally lead and model hands on use of AI tooling within Salesforce engineering workflows, including Salesforce Agentforce, Einstein capabilities, and modern AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, Lovable), and ensure those practices are operationalized across the team.
- Drive adoption of agentic and autonomous workflows within Salesforce, including the design, delivery, and governance of autonomous agents that enhance internal productivity and customer-facing experiences.
- Continuously evaluate, pilot, and scale AI-enabled engineering tools and platforms, establishing clear standards for where and how AI is used safely, effectively, and responsibly within Salesforce development.
- Embed AI into engineering operating mechanisms, including CI/CD pipelines, test automation, environment management, code review, documentation generation, and incident response.
- Assess the current team structure, capabilities, practices, and tech stack, and rapidly develop and implement an organizational and execution improvement plan that increases clarity, accountability, and throughput.
- Partner closely with the Enterprise Application Architect and Product organization to simplify the quote-to-cash landscape and enable rapid product and SKU introduction and ensure successful delivery of impactful outcomes.
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders to understand strategic challenges and requirements, ensuring these insights inform system simplification, enhanced functionality, and an improved user experience.
- Implement modern, AI enabled engineering practices including coding standards, CI/CD, test automation, documentation, code review discipline, and release management excellence.
- Manage external contractors and consulting partners to ensure adherence to Progress engineering standards, including coding quality, documentation practices, CI/CD compliance, and delivery discipline.
- Eliminate single-threaded dependencies by enabling both U.S., Bulgaria and India engineering teams to execute independently of legacy experts and bottlenecks.
- Drive clear ownership, work breakdown, and execution plans that turn architecture and strategy into shipped outcomes.
- Raise the bar on engineering craftsmanship through AI augmented development, system reliability, and operational excellence across the Salesforce platform and downstream integrations.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement, urgency, accountability, and technical pride, with a strong expectation of experimentation, learning, and responsible use of AI tools.
- Stay current with Salesforce platform innovations, AI capabilities, and emerging technologies, proactively identifying opportunities to modernize workflows, automate effort, and improve developer velocity.
- Instill transparent delivery rituals — including capacity planning, burn-down visibility, sprint/feature commitments, and delivery health reporting.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
- 8-10+ years of hands-on engineering leadership experience, including managing Salesforce engineering or platform delivery teams with increasing use of AI enabled development practices
- Demonstrated hands on experience applying AI to software engineering workflows, including development, testing, documentation, and operational support.
- Practical experience building or deploying AI-driven capabilities on the Salesforce platform, such as Agentforce agents, Einstein features, or AI powered automations.
- Strong familiarity with modern AI coding and agentic development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, Lovable, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to lead teams through AI-driven productivity transformation, including change management, enablement, and measurable outcomes.
- Proven experience transforming underperforming teams into highly accountable, high-output engineering organizations.
- Demonstrated success implementing DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, testing frameworks, and code quality standards augmented by automation and AI tooling in a Salesforce environment.
- Strong track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives involving CPQ, integrations, and downstream quote-to-cash systems.
- Experience leading globally distributed teams, including offshore models, with clear structure and execution discipline.
- Ability to partner with architecture to translate long-term vision into incremental modernization steps and near-term wins.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery models, capacity planning, and engineering metrics (velocity, defect rates, predictability, etc.).
- Certifications:
- Salesforce certifications such as Application Architect, System Architect, or CPQ Specialist are highly desirable.
- Salesforce AI-related certifications or credentials (e.g., Salesforce AI Associate, Einstein-related certifications) are a strong plus.
